CEO Park Soon-kwan Subject to Serious Accident Punishment Act Application
The police have criminally charged five individuals responsible for the fire accident at Arisel, a lithium primary battery manufacturer in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi Province.

On the 25th, the Arisel Fire Accident Investigation Headquarters of the Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency announced that five people, including Arisel CEO Park Soon-kwan, were reclassified as suspects on charges including professional negligence resulting in death and injury.
All of them have been subject to travel bans, and CEO Park has also been charged with violating the Serious Accidents Punishment Act. Those charged include, besides CEO Park, executives at the headquarters level, safety officers, and personnel from the manpower supply company.
Earlier, a fire broke out at 10:31 a.m. the previous day on the second floor of Building 3 of the Arisel factory, resulting in 23 deaths and 8 people suffering serious to moderate injuries. Due to severe damage to the bodies of the deceased, only the identities of 2 out of the 22 confirmed deceased have been verified.
