County Governor Jeong Jongbok Says "Safety Has No End"... Conducts On-Site Inspection
Final Report Meeting on 2024 National Safety Major Inspection and Intensive Safety Check
On the 25th, Gijang-gun, Busan held the ‘2024 National Safety Grand Inspection Intensive Safety Check Final Report Meeting’ and reviewed the overall progress of intensive safety inspections conducted to ensure the safety of residents from various hazards.
This report meeting was presided over by Gijang-gun Mayor Jeong Jongbok, with 18 participants including the Deputy Mayor and heads of departments and divisions.
During this year’s National Safety Grand Inspection period (April 22 - June 21), they discussed the results of safety inspections by each department, follow-up measures, and plans to ensure the safety of residents.
From April 22 for 61 days, the county completed 100% of inspections on 88 sites across 10 types of vulnerable facilities, including underpasses and landslide-prone areas. Minor issues identified during inspections were corrected on-site, and for areas requiring repair or reinforcement, action plans were established for prompt improvement.
In particular, this intensive inspection was led directly by Mayor Jeong Jongbok, who oversaw on-site inspections and the report meeting, prioritizing resident safety as the top administrative goal. Joint inspections with safety experts and the use of advanced equipment such as drones enabled thorough safety assessments. In addition, by encouraging residents to participate directly through self-inspection checklists, overall community awareness of safety was heightened.
Mayor Jeong Jongbok stated, “Although the intensive safety inspection period has ended, safety is never-ending,” and urged, “Please do your utmost for the safety of our residents, keeping in mind that this is just the real beginning.”
Jongbok Jeong, the head of Gijang County, is presiding over the final report meeting of the National Safety Diagnosis intensive safety inspection.
