Bucheon Mayor Joyongik: "Aiming for a Future City Where Culture and Economy Develop in Balance"

Held a Communication Meeting with Journalists on the 24th
Shared City Administration Philosophy on Citizen Participation and Balanced Development through Book Messages

Jo Yong-ik, Mayor of Bucheon City, Gyeonggi Province, held a communication meeting with journalists to mark the second anniversary of his inauguration and revealed his administrative philosophy to focus on for the remaining term.


At the meeting held on the 24th at Bucheon Art Center, Mayor Jo presented four administrative philosophies to be implemented during the remaining term: ▲Citizen Participation ▲Flexibility ▲Balanced Development ▲Future Orientation.


He stated, "This administrative philosophy means always being open to citizens, possessing administrative capabilities to skillfully respond to changes in the times, and striving for balanced development throughout every corner of the city," adding, "We will showcase an administration that achieves progressive success with a strong sense of responsibility for the future era."

Meanwhile, Mayor Jo shared the contents of four books: 'Era Forecast: The Age of the Nuclear Individual,' 'How to Cross the Age of Pirates,' 'The Future of Space,' and 'The Age of Resilience.' These books were also recommended by Mayor Jo to citizens last year and this year.


He said, "Dialogue through books is a communication medium unique to the cultural city of Bucheon," and added, "The way all generations communicate through books aligns with Bucheon City's policy emphasizing lifelong customized education for each generation."


Mayor Jo, who named the communication meeting with journalists 'Dialogue through Books,' explained the background of holding the meeting in a new space and in a unique format, saying, "I wanted to share the administrative philosophy and values inspired by books, as well as related policies in various fields, with journalists."


Mayor Jo evaluated the past two years of his term, saying, "With the vision of spatial welfare and economic leap, I have repeatedly pondered and practiced changes that citizens can feel."


He continued, "Going forward, I will tirelessly work toward a future city where culture and economy develop in balance," emphasizing, "I will carry out an administration that brings pride and dignity to the citizens of Bucheon."


Meanwhile, at the meeting, in-depth questions and answers were exchanged covering the entire city, including administrative system reform, progress of Bucheon Daejang Urban High-tech Industrial Complex and Sangdong Video Culture Industrial Complex, strategies for attracting science high schools, development plans for Jungdong 1st New Town and the old downtown area, carbon neutrality and environmental policies, and population policies.
