Gwangju University Launches Alumni Association for Graduate School Department of Lifelong Education

The Department of Lifelong Education at Gwangju University Graduate School held an alumni association launch ceremony on the 21st at the Future Education Creation Room on the 6th floor of Hosim Memorial Library on campus, attended by department professors, master's and doctoral graduates, and current students.

The Graduate School Lifelong Education Department Alumni Association pledged to build a strong network among graduates, provide continuous professional development opportunities, and contribute to the advancement of the university and local community.


Oh Ae-sook, elected as the inaugural president of the alumni association, stated, "Today marks an important milestone for our department and university. The Lifelong Education Alumni Association will not only strengthen bonds among graduates but also evolve into a community that meaningfully contributes to the field of lifelong education."


Choi Ju-nam, the 17th president of the Gwangju University General Alumni Association, congratulated the launch of the Lifelong Education Department Alumni Association in his congratulatory speech, encouraging, "Let us join forces for the development of the university and local community."


Meanwhile, the Graduate School of Lifelong Education at Gwangju University was established in 2008 and has produced 207 master's and 67 doctoral graduates, with 29 master's and doctoral students currently enrolled. Graduates are currently active not only at the National Institute for Lifelong Education (1 person) but also at provincial and metropolitan lifelong education institutes (4 people), and city, county, and district lifelong education officers (9 people). Additionally, they are working as lifelong education experts in various lifelong education fields such as the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education, lifelong education facilities, urban regeneration, and village education communities.


Professor Park Jin-young (Chair Professor of the Department of Lifelong Education, Gwangju University Graduate School) said, "With the launch of this alumni association as a starting point, we expect Gwangju University to play a more active role in revitalizing lifelong education in the university and local community."
