Democratic Peace Council Jindo County Council Hosts National Multinational Workers' Unification Olympics

Promoting Exchange and Friendship Among Foreign Workers, Multicultural Families, and North Korean Defectors

The Jindo County Council of the National Unification Advisory Council (Chairman Kim Nam-jung) announced on the 25th that the "National Multinational Workers' Unification One-Heart Olympics" event, where foreign workers, multicultural families, and North Korean defectors from across the country come together, will be held on the 20th of next month at the Jindo County Indoor Gymnasium.


This event is organized by the Jindo County Council of the National Unification Advisory Council and sponsored by Jindo County, Jindo County Council, Jindo Police Station, town and township offices, various social organizations, and Namwoo Medical Foundation Jeonnam Hospital.


Under the theme "Now Jindo, the World is One, North Korean Defectors Also Together," about 1,000 participants including foreign workers, multicultural families, North Korean defectors, local advisory committee members, and the general public are expected to attend.

On the day of the event, starting with an Ana-bada bazaar, various programs such as △Opening ceremony △Sports events (crossing the unification barrier, floating the unification globe, etc.) △Foreigners' talent show △Invited singer performances △Awards and prize draws will be held.


A representative of the Jindo County Council of the National Unification Advisory Council, a presidential advisory body, stated, "This event was organized to foster mutual understanding and friendship among foreign workers, multicultural families, and North Korean defectors residing in South Korea, a global central country with diverse cultures and backgrounds."


Kim Nam-jung, Chairman of the Jindo Democratic Peace Unification Advisory Council, said, "In the era of 1.2 million foreign workers, we hope this event, based on the Olympic spirit, will promote freedom, peace, and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula and further contribute to world peace," adding, "We expect this meaningful event to become one where foreign workers, multicultural families, and North Korean defectors can live in a South Korea free from racial, religious, and political discrimination."


Kim Hee-soo, the county governor, said, "I hope this Unification Olympics, held for foreign workers who work hard in beautiful South Korea, will be an opportunity for harmony and communication among them."
