Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the '2024 Second Quarter Commendation Ceremony for Distinguished Citizens for Municipal Development' at the City Hall Citizen Hall at 10 a.m. on the 25th.
At the ceremony, 105 citizens who contributed to the local community and municipal development were selected and commended. Various citizens who have volunteered in the grassroots of civil society, including housewives, voluntary crime prevention team members, volunteers, and neighborhood representatives, were recognized as distinguished citizens.
In particular, Sergeant An Yeyoung, Sergeant Choi Goeun (promoted), and former Sergeant Lee Ahyeon (discharged in May) from the Naval Logistics Command Ammunition Depot, who saved a precious life by promptly administering first aid after witnessing a citizen collapse while waiting at a crosswalk after work, reporting to 119, and checking consciousness through conversation until the ambulance arrived, as well as citizens who have quietly volunteered for regional development and marginalized neighbors, were recognized for their contributions.
Mayor Hong Nam-pyo said, "I believe that our society can smile and remain bright thanks to the distinguished citizens who have quietly volunteered for their neighbors," adding, "Changwon City will continue to do its best to support and encourage those who have quietly practiced volunteerism."
