Cancellation of Bay Valley Vision Declaration Ceremony on the 26th in Chungnam and Gyeonggi-do Due to Hwaseong Factory Disaster

Following the factory fire disaster in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, Chungnam Province and Gyeonggi Province have canceled the Bay Valley Vision Proclamation Ceremony scheduled for the 26th.

According to Chungnam Province on the 25th, Chungnam Governor Kim Tae-heum and Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon were planning to hold a joint Bay Valley Vision Proclamation Ceremony and Super Concert at the Chungnam Provincial Office on the 26th.

However, due to a large fire that occurred the previous day at the Arisel factory in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, the event was canceled to focus on managing the accident.

The province plans to hold the Vision Proclamation Ceremony again around the Chuseok holiday in consultation with Gyeonggi Province. Those who won tickets to the Super Concert will be given priority invitations when the event is rescheduled.

Governor Kim said through SNS on the day, "I bow my head in mourning for the victims who lost their lives in the Hwaseong factory fire in Gyeonggi Province," and added, "I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wish a speedy recovery to those injured."

He continued, "Above all, my heart aches knowing that foreign workers who came to Korea for their dreams have suffered greatly," and said, "We must not use this tragic accident as a political tool but unite our efforts to prevent recurrence and manage the aftermath."
