Reorganization from 6 Bureaus, 44 Divisions, 194 Teams to 7 Bureaus, 45 Divisions, 199 Teams
Establishment of Balanced Development Promotion Division and Low Birthrate Countermeasures Team
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) is accelerating the fulfillment of its promises for the 8th term of the elected government by implementing a major organizational restructuring. The district announced that starting from the 1st of next month, the organization will be reorganized from the current 6 bureaus, 44 divisions, and 194 teams to 7 bureaus, 45 divisions, and 199 teams.
Earlier, immediately after Mayor Jin's inauguration last November, the district established an Organizational Diagnosis TF Team to actively respond to new administrative demands and seek ways to enhance organizational efficiency. This reorganization reflects the bold organizational diagnosis results from the TF Team, focusing on the efficient promotion of urban development projects and the realization of comprehensive welfare.
The most notable feature of the reorganization is the establishment of the bureau-level “Balanced Development Promotion Team” to integrate the dispersed urban development tasks and promote urban development projects swiftly and efficiently. The Balanced Development Promotion Team will comprehensively manage projects for balanced urban development such as redevelopment, reconstruction, and Moa Town, and plans to accelerate development projects through communication with local residents.
Additionally, to overcome the low birthrate, which the government has recently been addressing with full force, the Family Policy Division has been renamed the Birth and Childcare Division, and a Low Birthrate Countermeasure Team has been newly established to promote effective childbirth encouragement policies.
To quickly respond to the increasing welfare demands, the Welfare Policy Division has been split into the Welfare Policy Division and the Welfare Support Division, and a dedicated department for managing the Magok Safety Experience Center, which opened in April, has also been established.
The existing Administrative Management Bureau has been renamed the Administrative Culture Bureau to strengthen cultural and artistic content and expand sports and tourism infrastructure, with the establishment of a Sports and Tourism Division.
Furthermore, to make it easier for residents to find services, Tax Division 1 has been renamed the Property Tax Division, and Tax Division 2 has been renamed the Local Income Tax Division. The Cooperative Governance and Decentralization Division and the Smart City Division, whose administrative demands have decreased, have been abolished and their tasks transferred to other departments.
Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, “This organizational restructuring was carried out to more efficiently achieve the goals of the 8th term of the elected government and to respond to the rapidly changing administrative environment. We will do our best to operate a performance-oriented and future-oriented organization in the remaining two years of the 8th term to make Gangseo-gu a place where everyone wants to live.”
