Geochang County in Gyeongnam announced on the 25th that it had conducted the '2024 Advanced Strawberry Course for Returning Farmers and Rural Migrants' at the Gyeongnam Provincial Geochang College, held at the Youth Management Practice Lease Farm.
Since last year, the county has established a cooperative system for returning farmer and rural migrant education with Gyeongnam Provincial Geochang College, jointly leading the overall curriculum, including the organization and operation of the education program and approval for agricultural education.
Geochang County is conducting on-site training for the advanced strawberry cultivation course at the Youth Management Practice Rental Farm.
This year, all three sessions of the advanced strawberry course are scheduled to be held as smart farm field training at the Youth Management Practice Lease Farm in Geochang County. Subsequent training sessions, including the official planting training in September and the harvest training in November, are also planned to take place at the lease farm.
The field training was led by three instructors, including Lee Gunhee, the CEO of Doel Nong and a tenant of the Youth Management Practice Lease Farm, who is also active as a 'Returning Farmer Doctor.' CEO Lee Gunhee is a field expert who received the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Award last year for his idea of 'Revitalizing Smart Farms Using the Metaverse Platform,' and received high praise from trainees for his practical lectures.
Kwak Chilsik, head of the Happy Rural Division, said, "It is meaningful that the Youth Management Practice Lease Farm, established to improve the agricultural management skills of young returning farmers, is being effectively utilized for training prospective returning farmers and rural migrants," adding, "We will further strengthen our cooperative system with the college to enhance the professionalism of returning farmer and rural migrant education."
Meanwhile, the Youth Management Practice Lease Farm consists of four smart farm-linked greenhouses (5,428 square meters) installed at the highway interchange, and is operated to support the stable agricultural start-up of young farmers.
