Korea Consumer Agency Tests 14 Battery Products
Daiso Products Offer Best Cost-Effectiveness
7 Times Cheaper Price and Excellent Quality
Among the batteries available on the market, the Neocell Alkaline product sold at Daiso was found to have the highest cost-effectiveness (performance relative to price). The Daiso product was up to seven times cheaper than Energizer products, known as "powerful and long-lasting batteries," while also being relatively superior in quality aspects such as duration.

On the 25th, the Korea Consumer Agency announced that it conducted tests and evaluations on 14 alkaline battery products available on the market, assessing quality (duration), safety (leakage resistance, heavy metal content), and economy (comparison with rechargeable batteries). The tested products included AAA and AA types such as ▲Daiso 'Neocell Alkaline' ▲Duracell 'Deluxe Alkaline' and 'Ultra Alkaline' ▲Vexel 'Premium Alkaline' and 'Platinum Alkaline' ▲Energizer 'Alkaline' and 'Alkaline Max.'
The test results showed differences in the key quality factor, duration, depending on the usage conditions (low load, medium load). When comparing duration relative to product price, the difference among AAA types was up to 8.6 times, and among AA types up to 7.1 times. All products met the relevant standards for safety and labeling.
In the itemized test results, duration differences among products were up to 1.3 times for AAA types and up to 1.2 times for AA types. Under low load (digital audio) conditions, four AAA products?Daiso (Neocell), Duracell (Ultra), Vexel (Platinum), and Energizer (Max)?and three AA products?Daiso (Neocell), Duracell (Deluxe and Ultra)?showed relatively superior duration.
Under medium load (operating toys, portable lamps) conditions, two AAA products?Daiso (Neocell) and Vexel (Platinum)?and three AA products?Duracell (Deluxe and Ultra) and Vexel (Platinum)?demonstrated relatively superior duration.
The price per battery showed about a sevenfold difference among products based on 12-pack products. The more batteries included in a pack, the lower the price per battery, with products of 20 or more batteries being up to 3.2 times cheaper than 4-pack products, making multi-pack purchases more reasonable. The Consumer Agency stated, "The recommended usage period for batteries is about 5 to 12 years, so households with high battery usage would benefit from purchasing multi-pack products."
When comparing duration per 100 won of battery price by brand, Daiso (Neocell) products showed the longest duration, with AAA types lasting up to 8.6 times and AA types up to 7.1 times longer, demonstrating excellent cost-effectiveness.
All products showed no issues in safety tests such as leakage resistance and heavy metal content. Labeling (polarity, recommended usage period, etc.) on all products complied with relevant standards.
Meanwhile, when the Consumer Agency compared the economic efficiency of rechargeable batteries (AA type, lithium-ion, 1.5V) and regular batteries over 200 uses, considering initial purchase costs, using rechargeable batteries was at least 20 times and up to 42 times cheaper. The Consumer Agency said, "Rechargeable batteries can be repeatedly charged and used, reducing the amount of waste batteries. Households with high battery usage would find it economical to purchase and use rechargeable batteries."
