Lee Jae-jun, the mayor of Suwon, has decided to temporarily postpone the press briefing commemorating his 2nd anniversary in office, which was scheduled for the 27th.
On the evening of the 24th, Mayor Lee posted on his social media, stating, "A heartbreaking accident occurred in Hwaseong, a city that shares the same roots as Suwon," and expressed his condolences, saying, "I pray for the repose and peace of each and every one who lost their lives."
He continued, "The press briefing scheduled for the 27th will be temporarily postponed," and promised, "We will decide on the timing of the event while monitoring the situation as the accident is being managed."
Furthermore, he said, "We will share the pain with Hwaseong, our sister city," adding, "If there is anything we can do to help or anything needed, we will actively step forward. I pray for the swift rescue of the isolated missing persons and the speedy recovery of the injured."
Earlier, Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon postponed the 2nd anniversary meeting with the press, which was scheduled for the 28th, due to this fire accident.
