Seocheon-gun, Local Extinction Response Fund Execution Rate Below 10%

Assemblywoman Kim Ajin: "2.4 Billion Won Executed Out of 25.2 Billion... Project Adjusted Due to Lack of Preparation"

Seocheon-gun, Local Extinction Response Fund Execution Rate Below 10% Assemblyman Kim Ajin of Seocheon County Council

Kim Ah-jin, a member of the Seocheon County Council, emphasized the need for a thorough inspection of the execution status of the Local Extinction Response Fund during the 322nd regular administrative audit.

This criticism comes in response to Seocheon County, Chungnam Province, conducting complacent administration and failing to properly execute the Local Extinction Response Fund.

According to Councilor Kim, Seocheon County was allocated a total of 25.2 billion KRW as the Local Extinction Response Fund: 6 billion KRW in 2022, 8 billion KRW in 2023, and 11.2 billion KRW in 2024.

During the Seocheon County administrative audit held the previous day, Councilor Kim questioned, "As of April this year, only about 2.4 billion KRW of the Local Extinction Response Fund has been executed, which is less than 10% of the total 25.2 billion KRW," pressing for reasons behind the insufficient execution.

She further inquired, "Were projects such as the 'Industrial Complex Workers’ Multi-family Housing Construction Project' and the 'Establishment of a Management System for Villages at Risk of Extinction in the Eastern Inland Area' adjusted and had their budgets cut due to lack of thorough preparation from the initial planning stage, decisions of infeasibility during the execution stage, or inefficient overlapping projects?"

Councilor Kim stated, "We need to avoid haphazard administration and implement efficient administration that involves thorough preparation from the planning stage and execution according to the plan. Next year, the only new project is the construction of the Janghang Eoullim Center (Women’s Hall), while the other three are ongoing projects. We must consider how to plan and proceed with the remaining six years of the 10-year long-term plan and put more effort into discovering new projects."
