Yeongju City Council Elects Kim Byungki as Second Half Chairman... "Will Faithfully Fulfill Oversight and Checks"

The Yeongju City Council in North Gyeongsang Province (Chairperson: Shim Jaeyeon) held a special session on the 24th and elected the chairperson and vice-chairperson for the second half of the 9th council.

In the chairperson election, which was conducted by anonymous secret ballot, out of 14 council members, Kim Byeonggi received 10 votes in the first round, with 1 invalid vote and 3 abstentions, resulting in Kim Byeonggi being elected as chairperson. In the subsequent vice-chairperson election, Lee Sanggeun received 10 votes, with 1 invalid vote and 3 abstentions, thus being elected as vice-chairperson.

Councilman Kim Byunggi elected as the second half chairman of Yeongju City Council.

Kim Byeonggi, who was appointed as chairperson for the second half of the 9th council, stated, "With the wealth of experience and capabilities of all council members as a foundation, I will unite everyone's intentions and devote myself to ensuring that Yeongju City Council faithfully fulfills its primary duties of monitoring, checking, and providing alternatives for Yeongju city administration as the representative body of citizens. In operating the council, I will adhere to democratic procedures so that all members can take pride in their work and, transcending political factions, truly serve as representatives of the citizens of Yeongju. I will spare no effort and support to make this possible."

The appointment of standing committee members and the election of committee chairs are scheduled to take place at the 284th special session of the Yeongju City Council on July 1.
