On the 24th, Patrick Lee, director of Frieze Seoul, explained the selection background, saying, "This year's Frieze Seoul Artist Award-winning work is about the advancement of technology," and added, "The key point to watch will be how the changes in technology in modern society have been sublimated into art." The new works by this year’s winner, Choi, will be unveiled from September 4 to 7 at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

The award-winning works, White Home Wall: Welcome and Gloria, are large-scale installation pieces transformed from discarded industrial materials such as exhaust pipes and air conditioner parts. They present a theme about the materiality inherent in technology within a world filled with digital experiences. By being reborn as artworks, the materials not only express the social infrastructure hidden behind the digital world but also evoke the complex ecosystem of materials permeating the urban environment.

Choi mainly presents installation works using pipes, appliances, and furniture commonly found in daily life. Since her first solo exhibition at the Kim Chong Yung Museum of Art in 2016, she has participated in various exhibitions and is active based in Seoul.
