Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon visited the site of a fire at a primary battery manufacturing company in Seosin-myeon, Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province on the 24th to encourage firefighters and urged them to mobilize all available resources for a swift extinguishment.

Upon receiving news of the fire, Governor Kim immediately went to the scene and said, "Please mobilize all available resources to quickly suppress the fire and minimize the release of harmful gases," emphasizing, "Do your utmost to rescue lives and pay special attention to the safety of the firefighters working at the site."

Governor Kim also instructed the management of the accident and preparations for post-incident measures on the same day.

First, he ordered the establishment of a joint on-site command center with Hwaseong City to build a comprehensive support system among related agencies such as fire services, police, medical teams, and local governments. He also urged that full efforts be made for follow-up support, including treatment assistance for the injured transported to hospitals and funeral expenses support for the deceased.

He further instructed to block the inflow of chemical substances and firefighting water into nearby streams to prevent secondary damage caused by chemical discharge. In particular, for local residents, he ordered the control of hazardous areas around the fire site and the provision of information on the fire situation and evacuation procedures to nearby residents to prevent additional damage.

Additionally, to manage the aftermath, he directed the formulation of a recovery plan for the damaged area after fire suppression and the establishment of measures to prevent recurrence through damage investigation.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters immediately issued Response Level 1 when the fire broke out at the factory around 10:31 a.m. that day, and then escalated to Response Level 2 at 10:54 a.m.

Currently, about 180 firefighters and 60 pieces of equipment are dispatched to the scene to suppress the fire. As of 2 p.m. that day, there were four casualties: one death, one seriously injured, and two with minor injuries.
