Physical Altercation with Security Company Over Building Occupation
Both Parties Submit Non-Prosecution Requests, Investigation Closed
Singer Kim Ho-jung, who caused controversy due to a hit-and-run incident involving drunk driving, has had a video released showing him involved in a physical altercation and using abusive language three years ago. On the 22nd, the YouTube channel 'Garosero Research Institute' posted a video titled 'Iron Pipe Gangster Kim Ho-jung.' The footage was recorded in July 2021. The conflict took place at the building of Kim Ho-jung's agency, Saenggak Entertainment, located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

In the video, a large man shouts abusive language, saying, "Hey, you s**t!" to which Kim Ho-jung retorts, "You f**ker. You s**t. You have neither money nor d**k." There is also a scene where Kim Ho-jung appears to pick up and then put down an object presumed to be a pipe. At the time, singer Young-gi from Saenggak Entertainment covered Kim Ho-jung's mouth to stop his harsh cursing, and Director Choi held Kim Ho-jung to calm him down. However, the fight continued outside the building. When a man said, "Let's sober up and talk," Kim Ho-jung provoked him by saying, "You f**kers, you’re just big in size. Do you know why you can’t hit me? Because you have no money. Then try hitting me."

This incident was a commotion that occurred over the issue of occupying the building, involving security staff from the building owner’s company. It is known that the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul received a report of a dispute at the time. However, since both parties submitted letters of no prosecution, the investigation was closed without further inquiry. Assault is a semi-indictable offense, meaning criminal prosecution cannot proceed without the victim’s intention to press charges.
Earlier, on the 18th, Kim Ho-jung was formally charged and detained on suspicion of violating the Special Act on Aggravated Punishment (dangerous driving causing injury, hit-and-run causing injury), violating the Road Traffic Act (failure to take measures after an accident), and aiding a fugitive. He is accused of hitting a taxi on the opposite side of the road in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, around 11:40 p.m. on the 9th of last month and fleeing the scene. Kim Ho-jung’s side consistently denied drunk driving immediately after the accident but admitted to drinking only after the National Forensic Service’s analysis concluded that alcohol was consumed before the accident.
Meanwhile, Kim Ho-jung is known to have wandered during his school days, associating with organized crime groups. Later, he studied vocal music, won awards in national competitions, and appeared on SBS’s ‘Star King’ in 2009, earning the nickname ‘High School Pavarotti.’ After debuting as a singer, Kim Ho-jung gained nationwide fame through TV Chosun’s ‘Mr. Trot’ in 2020. However, various controversies have continued to follow him since then.
