Ministry of Industry-Samsung Electronics Technology Sharing Announcement
Providing 231 Patents to Small and Medium Enterprises
Samsung Electronics will provide 231 advanced technologies, including wearable robots and flexible displays, free of charge to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced through the '2024 Ministry of Industry-Samsung Electronics Technology Sharing Announcement' that the shared technologies have been disclosed and applications from companies will be accepted from the 25th until August 6th.
The shared technologies are 231 selected patents from Samsung Electronics' portfolio that are expected to have high utilization value when provided to domestic SMEs and mid-sized companies. Technology sharing is a project that has been transferring unused technologies owned by large corporations and public institutions to SMEs and mid-sized companies free of charge since 2013, to support their technological competitiveness and innovative growth.

Among the key technologies provided this time are the "Wearable Robot and Its Control Method (Patent 10-2193771)," which measures signals from the wearer’s scalp to calculate the current walking speed and outputs assistive torque to achieve the target walking speed, and the "Flexible Display Device and Its Display Method (Patent 10-2327837)," where objects on a flexible display screen move and execute application functions simply by the user bending the screen.

Samsung Electronics, which has participated in technology sharing every year since 2015, has transferred 1,014 technologies to 559 companies free of charge up to last year. Keyword Lab, which received image reflection removal technology from Samsung Electronics in 2020, developed a new camera lens module product applying this technology and achieved sales of 510 million KRW last year through exports and other channels.
Applications for sharing can be made through the application website, and after review, selected companies will be chosen as recipients. A field briefing session on Samsung Electronics technology sharing will also be held on July 16th at EL Tower in Yangjae, Seoul, for SMEs and mid-sized companies interested in sharing.
