Silla University Department of Aeronautical Science Collaborates with Air Busan on New Pilot Recruitment Evaluation

Support for University Facilities and Personnel Including Flight Simulator Rooms

The Department of Aviation Operation at Silla University (President: Heo Namsik) has supported the training and evaluation process for the recruitment of new pilots at Air Busan, thereby contributing to the development of local aviation professionals.

From the 13th to the 18th, training and evaluation for the recruitment of new pilots at the local airline Air Busan were conducted at the flight simulator room in the Future Aviation Convergence Hall at Silla University. The Department of Aviation Operation and the Busan Aviation Security Training Center at Silla University provided facilities and personnel support.

Silla University and Air Busan, which have signed an industry-academia cooperation agreement (MOU) for the training of aviation industry professionals, have maintained a collaborative relationship and worked together to foster aviation talent. This recruitment evaluation utilized the REDBIRD flight simulator owned by the Department of Aviation Operation at Silla University to assess the flight skills of Air Busan's new pilot applicants.

The two institutions plan to continue their collaboration in pilot training, recruitment evaluation, and special lectures for aviation operation practitioners, aiming to nurture aviation professionals in preparation for the opening of the new Gadeokdo Airport.

Kim Youngrok, Director of the Busan Aviation Security Training Center at Silla University and professor in the Department of Aviation Operation, stated, "Cooperation between universities and industries is crucial for the development of the local aviation industry," and added, "Supporting this training and evaluation for new pilot recruitment has served as an opportunity to create a new industry-academia cooperation model, and we will play a pivotal role in fostering aviation professionals through continued collaboration."

Silla University, which has the only aviation-specialized college in the southeastern region, is dedicated to nurturing aviation professionals with a specialized faculty in preparation for the opening of the new Gadeokdo Airport.

In addition, the Busan Aviation Safety and Security Training Center at Silla University, designated as an aviation training institution in 2023, will provide Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport-certified training courses from August for aviation personnel from industries and government agencies, covering topics such as safety management systems, human factors for maintenance technicians, and airline security supervisor programs.
