The Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) is conducting a project to provide free enrollment in flood and earthquake disaster insurance and install flood prevention facilities for semi-basement households in the province until the end of this year.
GH announced on the 24th that 120 semi-basement households have submitted applications for the free flood and earthquake disaster insurance enrollment support project, and 75 applications have been received for the flood prevention facility installation support project, which includes flood barriers, operable security windows, and flood alarms.
GH will accept applications for insurance enrollment and flood prevention facility installation support until the end of this year. Insurance enrollment can be applied for by semi-basement residents by visiting the administrative welfare center.
Since last year, GH has been providing free support for flood and earthquake disaster insurance premiums that compensate for housing damage caused by natural disasters such as typhoons, floods, heavy rain, and strong winds for semi-basement households under provincial rental leases. Additionally, GH provides up to 1 million KRW for flood prevention facility installation costs and up to 400,000 KRW for moving expenses if relocating to above-ground housing.
Kim Se-yong, president of GH, promised, "We will continue to expand the corporation’s support to create a safe living environment for semi-basement housing and to prevent housing flood accidents."
