Eunpyeong-gu Operates Reading Program 'Together Book! Ulim' to Bridge Educational Gaps

Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that it will operate the Seoul Metropolitan City-Eunpyeong-gu education support cooperation project, Eunpyeong Edu Leader 'Together Book! Ulim' from this month until November to reduce the educational gap among vulnerable youth.

'Together Book! Ulim' aims to support the improvement of reading skills for special schools (classes) and vulnerable youth by providing a customized reading education program based on a special education curriculum.

This project has been carried out as the 'I Will Show You the World in Books' project targeting elementary students of special schools, starting from the existing Eunpyeong Innovation Education District Project to last year's Seoul Metropolitan City-Eunpyeong-gu education support cooperation project.

From this year, it has been reorganized into the 'Together Book! Ulim' project and expanded to include special classes in general elementary and middle schools as well as special schools.

In particular, eight public libraries including the Eunpyeong-gu Public Library take the lead in planning and implementing programs tailored to the characteristics and levels of the education recipients together with school officials. ▲

By providing customized education such as picture book book art, 'Me Met Through Books,' and a book play journey with IU (I&You), it is expected to contribute to the improvement of learning ability and social development.

Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, "I hope this reading education program will gradually reduce the educational gap and become an opportunity for everyone to grow together."
