The Busan Museum is hosting a high-quality exhibition, "The Collector: The Joy of Collecting, The Delight of Empathy," featuring 58 treasured items from renowned Korean antique collectors, including the late Samsung Group Chairman Lee Kun-hee.
The exhibition showcases the essence of Korean antiques, carefully selected to include only national treasure-level cultural assets such as ceramics like celadon, buncheong ware, and white porcelain; paintings of various genres including genre paintings, portraits, and paintings of classical scholars; and calligraphy works.
The exhibition opened on April 26 and is scheduled to run until July 7.
This exhibition is being hailed as a rare must-see for anyone interested in Korean aesthetics. Proving its popularity, the number of visitors to the Busan Museum has surged, with about 45,000 people visiting since the opening.
Among the masterpieces by Kim Hongdo, Shin Yunbok, Jeong Seon, and Jang Seung-eop, works such as "Hwajoguja-do" by Iam, which has rarely been shown to the public, and the white porcelain moon jar cherished by painter Kim Whanki, are drawing particular attention from visitors.
Visitor A, who attended the exhibition, said, "Not only did it rekindle my interest in Korean antiques, but it also made me feel proud of Korea's traditional beauty," adding, "I now fully understand why this exhibition is being praised nationwide as a visual feast."
In particular, not only citizens but also experts in the field who viewed the exhibition have given rave reviews, with many calling it a "well-made" exhibition that satisfies both the general public and professionals alike.
Prominent figures in the field, including Mayor Park Hyungjun, former Cultural Heritage Administration Director Yoo Hongjun, and former Myongji University Professor Yoon Yongyi, personally visited the exhibition and highly praised its quality.
