Home Air Conditioner Sales Average 10,000 Units Daily Last Week
AI Features Enhanced... Over 80% Are Wind-Free Air Conditioners
As the heatwave arrived earlier than usual this year and an unprecedented heatwave is expected this summer, Samsung Electronics (005930) home air conditioners enhanced with artificial intelligence (AI) features reportedly sold more than 10,000 units per day on average last week.
On the 23rd, Samsung Electronics announced that its domestic daily sales of home air conditioners from the 17th to the 21st averaged over 10,000 units per day. This means more than 7 units were sold per minute over the five days. Among the air conditioners sold during this period, over 80% were Wind-Free air conditioners, and sales of home system air conditioners, all of which are Wind-Free models, increased by about 25% year-on-year for two consecutive months in May and June.

The 2024 model 'Bespoke AI Wind-Free Gallery' has all models certified with energy efficiency grades 1 to 2, and its SmartThings AI saving mode allows customized power saving according to different situations, reducing energy consumption by up to 30%. Additionally, with Bixby applied, various air conditioner functions can be easily operated by voice commands without a remote control.
Simple voice controls such as turning the air conditioner on or off and adjusting the temperature can be performed without Wi-Fi connection, supported directly by the air conditioner device itself. Other features include 'Absence Power Saving,' which switches to power-saving mode after a certain period when no indoor movement is detected, and 'Absence Drying,' which removes moisture inside the air conditioner.
The popularity of home system air conditioners is also a major factor in the increase in air conditioner sales. Samsung Electronics offers a 'Home System Air Conditioner Responsible Installation' service that can install up to six system air conditioners in a residence within 8 hours without moving to a new house. Due to this installation convenience, it was found that 2 out of 10 households install system air conditioners while still living in their homes.
In May, Samsung Electronics launched the 'Bespoke AI Wind-Free System Air Conditioner Infinite Line,' a home system air conditioner equipped with AI features. A Samsung Electronics official stated, "We will continue to enhance consumer convenience through technology and AI functions, completing the vision of 'AI for Everyone' beyond the formula of 'AI Appliances = Samsung.'"
Meanwhile, the Korea Meteorological Administration issued a heatwave advisory for Seoul and various inland areas at 10 a.m. on the 19th. This was the first heatwave advisory for Seoul this year, one day later than last year. As of the 23rd, after Jeju, the southern regions are experiencing monsoon rains.
The monsoon season in the central region typically starts around June 25, but this year it is likely to be delayed compared to previous years. Although temperatures have dropped due to the rain, increased humidity is raising the perceived temperature, so the sweltering heat is expected to continue for the time being.
