Woori Financial Group's Woori Financial Future Foundation announced on the 23rd that it will begin supporting the 2024 'Confident Independence Kit' for youth preparing for independence from the 24th of this month until the end of the year.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, around 2,000 youth preparing for independence leave childcare facilities each year to start living on their own. Most of these youth face various challenges such as housing, living expenses, tuition, employment, and savings.
Woori Financial has been providing the Confident Independence Kit in collaboration with Good Neighbors since last year to offer practical help to youth leaving childcare facilities. In the first year of the program, over 1,500 youth preparing for independence received the Confident Independence Kit.
Additionally, Woori Financial has conducted financial mentoring programs for youth who fall into blind spots after government support ends and has also provided savings incentives.
The Confident Independence Kit consists of a guidebook for independent living, essential daily items, and home appliances. Youth who are leaving childcare facilities and starting independence this year can apply for the Confident Independence Kit through the Woori Financial Future Foundation and Good Neighbors websites or at 17 dedicated independence support agencies nationwide. The kit will be delivered directly to their residence via courier.
Moreover, the Woori Financial Future Foundation operates 'WooriSai,' a network where youth preparing for independence and those who have started living independently can connect, actively supporting the emotional stability of youth preparing for independence.
A representative from the Woori Financial Future Foundation stated, “We understand the various practical difficulties youth face when starting independence,” and added, “The Woori Financial Future Foundation will continue to provide substantial support so that the first steps of youth beginning independence are not lonely.”
