'Shooting Emperor' Jin Jong-oh, Running Mate of Han Dong-hoon... Running for Youth Supreme Committee Member

Handonghun's Proposal: "Decision for Greater Politics"
Entered Politics in February, Elected as Proportional Representative

Jin Jong-oh, a former national shooting team member and current member of the People Power Party, will run as a youth supreme council member in the July 23 party convention as the running mate of former emergency committee chairman Han Dong-hoon.

On the 22nd, TV Chosun reported this while releasing a phone conversation with Representative Jin. In the call, Jin explained his reason for running, saying, "I hope for the success of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration" and "I have been thinking about what role I can play in confronting the massive opposition party." He added, "Having lived my life valuing precise records in the shooting sport, I will engage in politics with the mindset of recording the current political history with absolute accuracy, without the slightest error," and stated, "I believe that is the kind of politics the people want." Jin had previously declared support for the Yoon Seok-yeol administration during the last presidential election and is known to have made the decision to run this time for greater political impact.

Representative Jin is an Olympic gold medalist in shooting, known as the "Shooting Emperor." He participated in five consecutive Olympic Games and made history in Olympic shooting by winning three consecutive 50m pistol gold medals in Beijing 2008, London 2012, and Rio de Janeiro 2016, earning a total of four Olympic gold medals. Born in 1979, Jin entered politics through talent recruitment during Han Dong-hoon's emergency committee period in February and was elected as the 4th candidate on the People Power Party's proportional representation list in the general election last April. The eligibility for running as a youth supreme council member is up to age 45.

It is reported that Jin decided to run after receiving a proposal from former emergency committee chairman Han. With Jin's addition, Han's three supreme council running mates have been virtually finalized. Han selected re-elected lawmaker Jang Dong-hyuk and first-term lawmaker Park Jeong-hoon as supreme council running mates with the "one person, two votes" system and had been searching for a youth supreme council running mate.

Former chairman Han will officially declare his candidacy for party leader at 2 p.m. on the 23rd at the National Assembly.
