Court Issues Arrest Warrant Citing "Risk of Flight"
A man in his 40s who wielded a weapon at a doctor in a hospital has been arrested.
The Seoul Seocho Police Station announced on the 22nd that Mr. A was detained on charges of attempted murder. According to the police, Kim Seok-beom, the chief judge in charge of warrants at the Seoul Central District Court, issued an arrest warrant for Mr. A the previous day, citing "risk of flight" as the reason.
Mr. A is accused of stabbing the arm of Dr. B, a doctor in his 40s, with a weapon in the examination room of a private hospital in Seocho-dong, Seocho-gu, at around 11:30 a.m. on the 19th. Dr. B was taken to the hospital for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition without life-threatening injuries. Mr. A was a patient at this hospital and told the police that he committed the crime out of dissatisfaction with the prescription.
The police judged that Mr. A had the intent to kill and actually attempted to carry it out, and applied for an arrest warrant on the 20th.
