A Life-Saving Miracle! POSCO Pohang Steelworks Practices Life Sharing with 'Love Blood Donation' Event

Despite Declining Number of Blood Donors, Cumulative Participants Reach About 25,000

POSCO Pohang Steelworks held a "Blood Donation of Love" event on the 19th and 20th, putting into practice the warm act of sharing life.

Employees of POSCO and its partner companies are participating in blood donation at a location set up in the Production Control Center.

Pohang Steelworks organized this event to help alleviate the ongoing blood supply shortage and to foster a culture of blood donation participation.

Since 2004, the steelworks has held blood donation drives twice a year. Blood donation buses were stationed at the Production Control Center, the Central Cafeteria, and in front of the POSCO headquarters, allowing POSCO and partner company employees to conveniently participate in blood donation during work hours.

An employee who participated in the blood donation said, "I can't donate blood often, but thanks to the company's campaign, I take part in blood donation twice a year. Having the blood donation bus right in front of the office saves time and allows me to do something good, so I feel proud."

This blood donation campaign was conducted with thorough preliminary inspections and detailed explanations by the Ulsan Blood Center of the Blood Services Headquarters of the Korean Red Cross.

Seo Cheolho, a team leader at the Korean Red Cross, said, "This year marks the 20th anniversary of POSCO's 'Blood Donation of Love' event, which I believe is a representative model case of corporate social contribution. I sincerely thank all POSCO employees for their active participation and hope that POSCO's life-sharing activities will spread throughout society."

Over the past 20 years, approximately 25,000 people have participated in Pohang Steelworks' Blood Donation of Love event, and another event is planned for the second half of this year.
