Young Entrepreneurs of Hongseong-gun Nest in 'Honggotong'

Selected for Youth Village Creation Contest...7 Teams Local Startups

Hongseong-gun, Chungnam, has created a nest for young entrepreneurs in the original downtown area of Hongju Eupseong called 'Honggotong.'

According to the county on the 20th, after being selected for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Youth Village Making Contest in 2023, about 130 young people prepared startups in Hongseong, resulting in 7 teams successfully launching local startups.

The 7 teams showcase various startup brands utilizing Hongseong's resources, such as natto made from Hongseong organic soybeans, handmade sausages using less-preferred parts of Hongseong pork, local branding, and farm branding. They have settled in Honggotong and plan to actively operate starting this August.

Honggotong is an alley passing through Hongseong High School and is considered a representative original downtown area near Hongju Eupseong.

Lee Yong-rok, the mayor of Hongseong-gun, said, "With the challenges of young people, the original downtown will regain vitality and will be reborn as a young and new Hongseong," adding, "We will provide multifaceted support to revitalize youth startups."
