A man was captured desperately escaping from an alligator in a lake in Mexico. On the 18th (local time), the British Daily Mail reported that a video of a man being chased by an alligator was posted on the online community Reddit, drawing attention. In the video, a man is swimming in the lake when an alligator appears nearby, and he desperately tries to escape.

The Daily Mail stated, "The man, who seemed to have lost his sense of direction, tried to swim to the edge of the lake as quickly as possible to get out," adding, "As he swam, a huge alligator quickly approached him from behind in the blue, murky water."

People nearby who saw the alligator appeared terrified and screamed "No" in fear. When the man grabbed the railing and climbed up to escape the alligator, the alligator quickly disappeared into the water. After getting out onto the land, he seemed exhausted and lay on the ground for a while before looking back into the water.

The man had a wound on the back of his thigh, but the Daily Mail explained that it was unclear whether it was from an alligator bite or a scratch during his escape. One netizen who watched the video advised, "Alligators have many bacteria in their teeth, so treatment must be prompt; otherwise, you could lose your leg." Other netizens reacted with comments such as, "I was on edge watching the video," "I'm really glad he's alive," and "It's fortunate he's alive; otherwise, it would have been a truly horrific video." On the other hand, some criticized the man's dangerous behavior.

Every year, dozens of fatalities occur worldwide due to alligator attacks. Earlier, on the 29th of last month, a fatal alligator attack occurred in the southern United States. At that time, Houston police in Texas found a human body inside the jaws of an alligator in the marshlands of southeastern Houston. To prevent further mutilation of the body and additional casualties, the police shot and killed the alligator and then recovered the woman's body.
