Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gu Bok-gyu) is taking measures to ensure the safety and health protection of elderly participants in the senior job program in preparation for the summer heatwave.
On the 19th, Hwasun-gun announced that it has established and will implement the "Senior Job and Social Activity Support Project Heatwave Operation Plan."
The heatwave period is from June 17 to August 31, and the activity hours for the Beautiful Village Making Project conducted outdoors have been adjusted from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. to 8 a.m. - 11 a.m.
Additionally, outdoor activities will be suspended for one month from July 15 to August 15, and after the heatwave ends, the lost time will be compensated to ensure there are no issues with income support.
Furthermore, Hwasun-gun will strengthen heatwave safety management by providing education to senior job participants on basic heatwave prevention rules and emergency response procedures in case of heat-related illnesses.
A Hwasun-gun official stated, “We ask elderly participants to avoid outdoor activities during midday hours to prevent heatstroke and other heat-related illnesses and to strictly follow safety rules. We will strive to ensure that senior jobs supporting the income of the elderly are carried out safely.”
