Kim Tae-heum, Governor of Chungnam, "Will ensure the unpaid Daegum Myeongji Hospital building is completed within my term"

"Management Deterioration Due to Medical Crisis... Seeking Solutions"

Kim Tae-heum, Governor of Chungnam, "Will ensure the unpaid Daegum Myeongji Hospital building is completed within my term"

Kim Tae-heum, Governor of Chungnam Province, stated on the 20th, "I will ensure that the Myongji General Hospital building can be constructed within my term."

Governor Kim made this remark on the 20th during the 3rd plenary session of the 352nd regular meeting in response to a question from Assemblyman Lee Sang-geun (People Power Party, Hongseong 1) regarding measures to address the unpaid balance for Myongji General Hospital.

The Myongji Medical Foundation purchased the hospital site from Chungnam Development Corporation in May 2022 for 35.585 billion KRW. The foundation agreed to pay the amount in seven installments of 5.3 billion KRW each, but recently, due to worsening management conditions, it failed to pay the fourth installment and requested a deferral.

Regarding this, Governor Kim said, "Currently, many hospitals are experiencing severe financial difficulties due to the medical crisis," adding, "If Myongji Hospital is struggling to the extent that purchasing the land is difficult, we are devising plans on how to resolve this issue going forward."

He continued, "In fact, the agreement with Myongji Hospital was made during the 7th local government administration, and the structure was set up so that successors could not even begin excavation, but we are currently working to improve and supplement this," emphasizing, "During my term, I will do whatever it takes to ensure that the hospital building is constructed."
