The KOSPI index surpassed the 2800 mark for the first time in 2 years and 5 months.
As of 9:52 a.m. on the 20th, KOSPI was trading at 2800.03, up 2.70 points (0.10%) from the previous day. The index opened higher at 2802.10, up 4.77 points (0.17%), continuing its upward trend. Currently, foreigners are net buying stocks worth 38.1 billion KRW, institutions are net buying 1.7 billion KRW, while individuals are selling stocks worth 23.3 billion KRW.

Among the top market capitalization stocks, Shinhan Financial Group (1.19%), KB Financial Group (1.01%), LG Chem (0.83%), and Samsung Electronics (0.25%) are rising. Meanwhile, Kia (-1.66%), Hyundai Mobis (-1.45%), POSCO Future M (-0.75%), and Celltrion (-0.71%) are declining.
By sector, Medical Precision (1.60%), Paper & Wood (1.47%), Chemicals (1.41%), Transportation & Warehousing (0.94%), and Electric & Gas Utilities (0.44%) are gaining. Conversely, Transportation Equipment (-0.79%), Insurance (-0.76%), Distribution (-0.59%), and Food & Beverages (-0.54%) sectors are falling.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index recorded 862.88, up 1.71 points (0.20%) from the previous close. The index opened at 861.44, up 0.27 points (0.51%). Foreigners and individuals sold stocks worth 14.5 billion KRW and 1.6 billion KRW respectively, while institutions bought stocks worth 14.9 billion KRW alone.
Following President Yoon Suk-yeol's declaration of a 'national population emergency' to fundamentally address the low birthrate issue, stocks related to low birthrate such as Carrysoft, Agabang & Company, and Mona Lisa surged sharply.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Rigelchem Bio (10.77%), Pearl Abyss (3.00%), JYP Ent. (1.60%), HLB (1.10%), and Rainbow Robotics (0.42%) are rising. On the other hand, Samchundang Pharm (-2.99%), HPSP (-1.94%), Alteogen (-1.76%), and Hugel (-1.72%) are declining.
