Sharing Achievements of Middle School Student Recitation Contest and Global Camp
Geochang County, Gyeongnam, announced on the 20th that it held a meeting at the Youth Training Center with 12 English education officials from local middle schools, Geochang Office of Education, and Gyeongnam Provincial Geochang College to share the results of the Geochang County English Recitation Contest and discuss ways to operate the Global Camp.
As part of its efforts to nurture global talent, Geochang County has been hosting the "Geochang County Middle School English Recitation Contest" since 2019 for second-year middle school students, as one of its international education city activities (IAEC) and language education support projects entrusted to the International Cooperation Institute. In this contest, students recite speeches by renowned figures.
This initiative was launched not only to enhance the foreign language skills of local youth but also to foster global talent on the world stage. After preliminary contests at each school, students who are finally selected through the main contest organized by the responsible department are given the opportunity to participate in a two-week overseas Global Camp, where they can gain a variety of experiences.
Geochang County Mayor Koo Inmo said, "The English Recitation Contest and the operation of the Canada Global Camp are expected to greatly contribute to improving Geochang County students' English communication skills and global competencies. We will do our best to help students develop curiosity and motivation for language learning."
Meanwhile, the county plans to continue its efforts to nurture talent in Geochang County, an educational city on the global stage, by maintaining ongoing communication with frontline school teachers, parents, and students to provide programs that residents want.
