Hwasin Bolt Industry, Jeil Electric, and Unitecno in Technology, Global, and Employment Fields
Busan City has selected three companies as Busan-type anchor enterprises and will provide customized support to foster them into globally competitive mid-sized companies.
This is the first time the city is implementing the "2024 Busan-type Anchor Enterprise Fostering Support Project," aiming to select and nurture anchor companies that will lead the revitalization of Busan's industrial ecosystem, focusing on the region's key industries.
In March, the city recruited candidate companies in three categories: technology, global, and employment. Through a process involving eligibility screening (document evaluation), the first round of presentations, consulting support, on-site inspections, and a second round of presentations, three out of nine applicants were finally selected as Busan-type anchor companies.
The three companies selected as Busan-type anchor enterprises are Hwashin Bolt Industry, Jeil Electric, and Unitechno, each designated as anchor companies in the technology, global, and employment sectors, respectively.
Hwashin Bolt Industry is engaged in the manufacturing of bolts and nuts; Jeil Electric specializes in the manufacturing of electric circuit switching and protection devices; and Unitechno manufactures new automotive power transmission systems.
Each company selected as a Busan-type anchor enterprise will receive customized support worth up to 900 million KRW. The support areas include research and development (R&D), securing intellectual property rights, labor costs, consulting for establishing growth roadmaps, certification, and commercialization.
Busan-type anchor companies in the technology and global sectors will receive up to 200 million KRW per year, and those in the employment sector will receive up to 300 million KRW per year, for a maximum of three years.
In particular, Unitechno, which received the highest score in the networking capability category, will receive support to build a value chain, enabling the creation of a new industrial ecosystem where upstream and downstream industry companies can grow together.
The city expects that through this project, the companies selected as Busan-type anchor enterprises will be able to lay the foundation for becoming globally competitive mid-sized companies.
Mayor Park Hyungjoon stated, "The three companies selected as Busan-type anchor enterprises have excellent technological competitiveness and growth potential. We will actively support them to lead Busan's industrial ecosystem and grow into globally competitive mid-sized companies. In particular, we will ensure that Busan-type anchor enterprises grow together with upstream and downstream industry companies, driving technological innovation, export revitalization, and the creation of quality jobs throughout Busan's industrial ecosystem."
