[Tomorrow's Weather] Seoul, 35°C 'Scorching Heat'... Southern Region Approaching Monsoon Season Countdown

Rain and Cloud Forecast for Jeonnam, Gyeongnam, and Jeju

On Thursday the 20th, the daytime high temperature in Seoul will rise to 35 degrees Celsius, continuing the 'scorching heatwave.' In the southern regions, rain or thick clouds will cause daytime temperatures to drop by about 2 to 6 degrees compared to the previous day.


According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 19th, the morning low temperatures on the 20th are forecasted to be between 17 and 24 degrees Celsius depending on the region, with daytime highs ranging from 24 to 35 degrees. Heatwave warnings are in effect for most areas nationwide, with the highest perceived temperatures expected to be around 33 degrees, so the Meteorological Administration advised referring to heatwave impact forecasts and taking precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses.

Rain is forecasted for the southern regions. Expected precipitation amounts are 5 to 20 mm along the southern coast of Jeollanam-do, 5 to 10 mm along the southern coast of Gyeongsangnam-do, and around 5 mm in Gwangju, southern Jeollanam-do and Jeollabuk-do, Busan, Ulsan, and inland Gyeongsangnam-do. Jeju Island will experience 50 to 100 mm of rain from late night on the 19th until the morning of the 21st, with some areas receiving over 150 mm and mountainous regions over 200 mm. There may also be places with heavy rain exceeding 30 mm per hour accompanied by thunder, lightning, and strong gusts, so caution is needed to avoid damage.


Fine dust levels will range from 'Good' to 'Moderate' across all regions. The Seoul metropolitan area, Busan, and Ulsan will experience 'Bad' levels in the morning.


Sea waves will be 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the East Sea and West Sea nearshore waters, and 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the South Sea nearshore waters. Wave heights in the offshore waters (about 200 km from the coastline) are forecasted to be 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the East Sea, 0.5 to 2.5 meters in the West Sea, and 1.0 to 3.0 meters in the South Sea.


Especially around Jeju Island and the southern sea, there may be places with gusty winds accompanied by thunder and lightning, so caution is advised to prevent maritime safety accidents.
