Now in its third year, Budeul Life Plogging is a corporate social responsibility activity commemorating the company’s founding, where Yuhan Corporation employees and their families participate by collecting household waste near their homes. If the environmental goals for the year are achieved, treatment costs for pediatric cancer patients are supported. This year, 443 employees and their families are participating with a goal of collecting 80,000 pieces of trash.
This year, on the 18th, employees from three business sites including the headquarters, research institute, and factory gathered to pick up trash during lunch hours in a “Lunchtime Plogging” event for the local community near the workplaces. About 70 employees participated and collected 8,000 pieces of community trash. Additionally, employees who participated in the activity were given coupons for free coffee at nearby cafes and the company’s internal store when they brought their own tumblers, enabling each employee to practice eco-friendliness in daily life.
Since 2022, Yuhan Corporation has been collaborating with the nonprofit organization ItaSeoul to operate data plogging, where employees directly input and share the trash they collect via mobile devices. They have built a dedicated mobile platform that quantifies environmental activities and measures environmental value, allowing employees to check the achievement rate of goals in real time and participate actively. Last year, a total of 76,624 pieces of trash were collected, reducing 1,353 kg of carbon.
If the plogging activity goal is achieved this time, Yuhan Corporation plans to donate 10 million KRW to the Korea Leukemia Children's Foundation for pediatric cancer patient treatment costs.
