Kim Jong-un "Russia Fully Supports Ukraine War"

Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea, expressed strong support for Russia's war in Ukraine during a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to Bloomberg on the 19th, Chairman Kim met with President Putin in Pyongyang and declared full support for Russia's special military operation (war) in Ukraine to expand economic and military cooperation and to demonstrate a united front against the United States.

It is not yet known what specific forms of support will be provided.

Chairman Kim also stated, "We highly appreciate Russia's important role and mission in maintaining the world's strategic stability and balance." He added, "The global situation is deteriorating and rapidly changing. In this context, we will strengthen strategic interaction with Russia."

President Putin expressed gratitude for Chairman Kim's support and said, "The two countries are fighting together against the imperialist hegemonic policies of the United States and its satellite states," and announced plans to sign a new foundational document to enhance the partnership between the two countries. Regarding the new agreement, President Putin said, "It will serve as the basis for long-term bilateral relations."

After the welcoming ceremony, Chairman Kim and President Putin held a summit to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

Bloomberg expressed concerns that through this summit, North Korea might supply weapons to Russia, which is at war, and in return receive nuclear weapons and missile technology transfers from Russia. North Korea is under economic sanctions by the United Nations (UN) Security Council due to its nuclear weapons. Russia is also facing sanctions from the United States and the European Union (EU) due to its invasion of Ukraine.
