This drill was jointly hosted by Jeju Maritime Police, the Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation, and Korea Midland Power Co., Ltd. Jeju Power Plant, involving more than 120 participants from 14 organizations and companies, deploying 11 vessels, 4 oil recovery machines, and 780 meters of oil fences in a large-scale exercise.

The scenario assumed that a tanker approaching the Jeju Power Plant for oil unloading collided with mooring facilities, resulting in approximately 7.5㎘ of bio-heavy oil spilling into the sea.

Starting with the rapid mobilization of response forces and requests for cooperation and communication with related agencies, the joint maritime oil spill response drill was conducted realistically, including sealing the hull breach by the Jeju Maritime Police rescue team vessels, installing oil fences at sea using ships, and recovering pollutants through the operation of oil recovery machines.

Jeju Maritime Police stated, "Through the response drill, we checked the roles of each organization and force, established oil spill response strategies tailored to the characteristics of the Jeju region, and focused on strengthening the region's response capabilities by identifying operational issues through evaluation meetings and making improvements."
