Efforts Focused on Preventing Festival Accidents and Tackling Price Gouging
Jinju City in Gyeongnam held a briefing session on the "2024 Jinju City Summer and Fall Festival Hosting Plans" on the 2nd floor Citizen Hall of City Hall on the 18th, covering events such as the Jinju M2 Festival and Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival.
At the briefing, Jinju Mayor Cho Gyu-il, 15 members of the Jinju City Festival Committee in accordance with the "Jinju City Festival Support Ordinance," and festival officials attended to report on the direction and main content of October festivals, including the M2 Festival, National Heritage Media Art Jinju Fortress, Jinju Cultural Heritage Night Walk, and Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival. They also discussed ways to ensure the successful hosting of these events.
The representative summer festival of Jinju, the "Jinju M2 Festival," will be held over two days, August 9 and 10, at the Mangyeong-dong Namgang riverside, featuring a water music performance in connection with the "National Heritage Media Art Jinju Fortress Project."
Mayor Cho Kyuil is holding a 2024 summer festival planning briefing at the city hall's second-floor citizen hall.
"2024 National Heritage Media Art Jinju Fortress," selected for the National Heritage Administration's public contest project, will be held for 24 days from August 2 to 25 around Jinju Fortress, under the theme "Onsaemiro Jinju Fortress Map." The Jinju Cultural Heritage Night Walk, "Night Dabeopseok, Jinju Fortress Moon Greeting," will run for three days from August 15 to 17, offering citizens and tourists an unforgettable historical and cultural experience.
Additionally, the October festivals that will illuminate Jinju's autumn night sky include the Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival from October 5 to 20 for 16 days, the Gaecheon Art Festival from October 10 to 20 for 11 days, and finally, the Korea Drama Festival from October 11 to 20 for 10 days, all held in the Jinju Fortress and Namgang areas.
In particular, the Gaecheon Art Festival Folk Market and Korea Drama Festival Food Zone will operate from the first day of the Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival, October 5, offering food and entertainment options.
To ensure safety at the October festivals, including the Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival, the city plans to introduce new and diverse content with safety as the top priority, reflecting the results of last year's "Safety Management and Crowd Density Simulation Study." Various measures are also being considered to prevent price gouging at festival venues.
Mayor Cho Gyu-il stated, "I ask all members of the festival committee and related officials to do their utmost in preparing for the festivals so that everyone can visit Jinju's festivals with joy, leave with love for Jinju, and experience a safe and satisfying 'healing space.'"
