The Only 100 Million KRW Special Local Tax Secured in Jeonnam Province
Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) announced on the 19th that it was selected as an excellent local government in the ‘2023 Committee Maintenance Performance Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The maintenance of local government committees was promoted to prevent indiscriminate establishment of committees and to improve the responsibility and efficiency of committee operations by reorganizing committees with poor meeting or performance records.
Since January last year, the county was highly evaluated for actively reorganizing 12 committees that had not met for three years or had low frequency of agenda items, through abolition, non-permanency, consolidation, or specifying expiration dates, and was selected as an excellent local government.
In particular, as the only local government among cities and counties in Jeollanam-do to be selected as an excellent local government, Wando-gun secured 1 won of special treasury subsidy. The county plans to continue reorganizing inefficiently operated committees in the future.
A county official said, “We will continuously inspect various committees to ensure they operate more efficiently and implement responsible administration.”
Meanwhile, this year, the county amended the ‘Ordinance on the Establishment and Operation of Committees’ to guarantee youth participation in committees, thereby establishing an institutional foundation to increase youth participation and activity rates in committee operations.
