Transforming Busan into a Global Education Platform City

Shilla University, Dongmyung University, and Busan Global City Foundation Sign Agreement
"Attracting International Students and Building Global Cooperation Networks"

Silla University and Tongmyong University have embarked on a project to establish Busan as a world-class educational platform.


Silla University (President Heo Namsik) announced on the 19th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Busan Global City Foundation (CEO Jeon Yongwoo) and Tongmyong University (President Jeon Ho Hwan) to foster global talent and build a global hub city through the establishment of a Busan-style global education platform.


The signing ceremony took place at 2:30 p.m. on the 18th in the President's Reception Room on the 6th floor of the Silla University main building, attended by President Heo Namsik, President Jeon Ho Hwan of Tongmyong University, CEO Jeon Yongwoo of the Busan Global City Foundation, and other key officials from each institution.


The participating organizations agreed to cooperate in various areas, including: fostering human resources for the creation of Busan as a global hub city; attracting and supporting international students; joint efforts for regional development based on sustainable development goals; expanding joint business opportunities and networks in the field of international cooperation; and other activities of mutual interest deemed necessary for the development of the Busan region. Through this, they aim to build a Busan-style global education platform to nurture global talent with a strong connection to Busan and establish Busan as a global hub city.


Heo Namsik, President of Silla University, explained, "Silla University and Tongmyong University have been provisionally designated as part of the Glocal University 30 project, making internationalization a core task in line with Busan's drive to become a global hub city, and are now accelerating efforts for official designation."


President Heo added, "As the role of the Busan Global City Foundation is crucial at the center of Busan's internationalization, I expect that the collaboration among these three institutions will greatly contribute to the internationalization of both universities."
