Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 19th that its high-performance electric vehicle Ioniq 5 N recently received high praise as the "best high-performance electric car" from leading automotive magazines in Germany and the United Kingdom.
This high-performance electric vehicle comparison evaluation was jointly conducted by the prominent automotive magazines Germany's Auto Zeitung and the UK's CAR Magazine. Both media outlets are highly trusted automotive magazines across the industry, and their evaluation results serve as important decision-making criteria for European consumers when purchasing vehicles.
The comparison evaluation took place over three days at the N?rburgring Nordschleife circuit and surrounding roads in Germany. Journalists from the two magazines test-drove a total of seven high-performance electric vehicles: Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, Tesla Model S Plaid, BMW i5 M60, Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Weissach Package, Lotus Eletre R, Pininfarina Battista Nino Farina, and Lucid Air Dream Performance, and then evaluated each model.
Both magazines commonly praised the Ioniq 5 N for delivering the most essential value that a high-performance car should offer: "driving enjoyment," which they said was overwhelmingly superior to the other models. They also highlighted that the Ioniq 5 N did not neglect the fundamentals of the vehicle.
Auto Zeitung stated, "Everything related to driving?steering, power distribution, acceleration response, braking?was perfect," and added, "We were impressed by the Ioniq 5 N’s powerful performance and balanced chassis." CAR Magazine also evaluated, "The Ioniq 5 N was born as a perfect electric car boasting high performance by improving the body structure and drive axle, and reinforcing the motor and battery mounts."
Both magazines also highly praised the high-performance specialized features of the Ioniq 5 N. Regarding the 'N Drift Optimizer,' which helps enable natural drifting, they said, "It is a function that allows anyone to easily enjoy drifting just by pressing the accelerator pedal, even if they are not experts," and added, "It provides an authentic and pure driving pleasure."
Additionally, they focused on the 'N Active Sound Plus,' which replicates the sensibility of high-performance internal combustion engine cars, and the virtual transmission system called 'N e-Shift.' Auto Zeitung evaluated the N Active Sound Plus, saying, "It delivers the deep exhaust sound of a sports car while perfectly reproducing even the subtle sounds during gear shifts." CAR Magazine added, "The most highly rated feature of the Ioniq 5 N is the N e-Shift," describing it as "an amazing function that definitely enhances driving immersion, which was thought to be impossible for electric vehicles."
The Ioniq 5 N is Hyundai’s first high-performance electric vehicle under the N brand, concentrating advanced electrification technologies to push driving performance to the extreme. Based on a high-performance all-wheel-drive system, it delivers a combined maximum output of 478 kW (650 horsepower) and a maximum torque of 770 Nm from the front and rear motors. It features an 84 kWh high-output battery and various high-performance electric vehicle N-exclusive technologies such as a specialized thermal management control system, resulting in overwhelming driving performance.
