Kim Seong-won, chairman of the Energy Special Committee, said before the joint meeting held at the Yongin site on the 18th, "Today, the Energy Special Committee and the AI and Semiconductor Special Committee decided to hold a joint meeting on site," adding, "We share the recognition that the semiconductor industry is a century-long industry playing a pivotal role in South Korea's exports." He continued, "The importance of power supply that drives this industry cannot be overstated," and said, "We intend to assess the construction site situation today and prepare practical support measures. The People Power Party will continue to take the lead for the success of the Yongin semiconductor cluster."

Ko Dong-jin, chairman of the AI and Semiconductor Special Committee, also said at the meeting, "This morning, at the Yongin semiconductor cluster, we had a session to empathize with how nationally critical the issues of manpower, water resources, and especially the urgent power supply problem are," adding, "I hope this will be an opportunity to understand how the government and the party can provide the most comprehensive support and what difficulties exist."

Attending the meeting were Special Committee members including Chairman Kim and Chairman Ko, Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin Special City, Choi Nam-ho, 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and Kim Dong-seop, president of SK Hynix. After the meeting, they moved to the actual construction site to receive explanations about the construction status. The People Power Party Special Committee members asked questions about residents' complaints and any inconveniences to residents' lives, addressing local livelihood issues.

After the schedule, Chairman Kim met with reporters and was asked whether bills such as the power grid expansion law, which were not passed during the 21st National Assembly, might be passed in the 22nd National Assembly. He replied, "During the 21st National Assembly, the bills were fully discussed, but political consensus was not reached," adding, "In the case of the Yongin semiconductor cluster, since it concerns South Korea, I believe consensus has been mostly achieved. I think there will be good results in the 22nd National Assembly." When asked how long it might take for the bills to pass, Chairman Kim said, "The standing committee needs to be organized, so we have to see how the original composition goes."
