Actor Hwang Bo-ra "Couldn't Get Pain-Free Injection Due to Medical Strike"... Medical Association "There Was No Strike in May"

Request for Correction and Deletion Measures

The Korean Medical Association (KMA) has refuted actress Hwang Bora's claim that she was unable to receive an epidural during childbirth due to the medical strike, and has demanded a correction and deletion of the statement.

On the 18th, the KMA stated in a press release, "We express serious regret regarding actress Hwang Bora's claim in a certain YouTube cesarean section review video that she 'could not receive an epidural due to the medical strike,' which was cited by multiple media outlets, and we request a correction report."

The KMA's position is that Hwang's claim is logically incorrect. The KMA explained, "There was no doctors' strike in May when Hwang gave birth by cesarean section, so the report that she could not receive an epidural due to the strike is clearly false. Epidurals and pain busters are procedures performed during cesarean surgery, so her claim that she could not receive an epidural after surgery because there were no doctors is also logically untenable."

Earlier, on the 16th, Hwang posted a video on a YouTube channel recalling her cesarean delivery. In the video, she said, "They say if you get an epidural, it doesn't hurt, but the next day it hurt like crazy. It felt like someone was cutting my belly with a knife and stabbing it with a hot fire." She continued, "There is something called a pain buster, which you press whenever it hurts. But I wasn't given a pain buster." She added, "I found out it was because the attending doctor was absent due to the medical strike. I endured it all. After 2 to 3 days, it got a bit better."
