On the 15th, members of the Yeongdeok-gun sanitation workers’ union in North Gyeongsang Province visited a household in Byeonggok-myeon suspected of hoarding, and carried out volunteer activities to improve the living environment.

On this day, 12 union members, including union leader Kim Minseok, mobilized two cleaning vehicles and a crane truck to remove about 6 tons of accumulated garbage from a house and yard that had not been cleaned for years, causing foul odors and pests. They sorted and disposed of the waste manually after removal.
Nam Heedong, head of Byeonggok-myeon, said, “Thanks to the sanitation workers, the resident, who was in a welfare blind spot and unable to improve the situation alone, can now live in a much cleaner environment, as can the neighbors. I would like to express my gratitude and respect to the sanitation workers who always play the role of the light and salt of our society, often out of sight.”
The Yeongdeok-gun sanitation workers’ union is taking the lead in improving the local environment by collecting trash left in picnic areas and parks and cracking down on illegal dumping through their clean community projects.
