Uljin County in North Gyeongsang Province hosted the 16th Youth Urijin Football Tournament on June 15 and 16 at Uljin Yeonho Sports Park and Uljin Middle School sports field. The event was organized by Uljin County and supervised by the Ministry of Justice’s Uljin District Youth Crime Prevention Committee (Chairman Kwon Taejong).
This year, a total of 16 teams participated, including 6 high school teams, 4 middle school teams, 4 elementary school teams, and 2 female youth teams, with over 300 young players. The athletes competed fiercely, showcasing the skills they had honed in preparation, all for the honor of their schools.
In particular, two female youth teams participated in an exhibition match, demonstrating impressive abilities.
The tournament champions were Bugu Elementary School (BD FC) in the elementary division, Uljin Middle School (1beonga Family) in the middle school division, and Jukbyeon High School (Jukbyeon High Hannam) in the high school division. An MVP award was also presented to players who displayed outstanding teamwork and skills.
County Governor Son Byungbok said in his opening remarks, “I hope this tournament will give young people a chance to relieve academic stress, learn the spirit of sportsmanship, and foster unity,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to help local youth grow into well-rounded talents in sports, culture and arts, and education.”
