Dong-A University (President Lee Haewoo) announced on the 18th that the Specialized Workforce Training Project Group for Core Materials of Secondary Batteries (Project Director: Professor Kim Jeomsoo, Department of Chemical Engineering) received the ‘Best Performance Award’ in the specialized program for mid-sized enterprises at the ‘2024 Energy Innovation Talent Forum’ Energy Workforce Training Performance Exchange Meeting.
This forum, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning, was recently held at the Wirye Militopia Hotel in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, to address the imbalance in the supply and demand of workforce in the energy industry and to strengthen the achievements of the energy workforce training project for fostering national talent in the energy sector.
At this forum, the performance exchange meeting for each energy workforce training program was conducted in a format where project groups continuing or newly participating in the workforce training project presented and discussed their achievements in workforce training, research outcomes, and other autonomous results, sharing difficulties and know-how to enhance performance.
Among the 47 project groups that participated in the exchange meeting, the Dong-A University Energy Workforce Training Project Group was selected by recommendation of the attending researchers and received the ‘Best Performance Award’ among the seven teams in the ‘Specialized Program for Mid-sized Enterprises’ category.
The ‘Specialized Program for Mid-sized Enterprises’ aims to supply outstanding talent and strengthen human resource capabilities for energy mid-sized companies.
The Dong-A University Energy Workforce Training Project Group was highly evaluated for producing specialized personnel through credit exchange systems, short-term internship programs, and performance exchange meetings in collaboration with partner institutions (Pukyong National University, Pusan National University, L&F, Ecopro BM), as well as for achieving employment for all graduates in the energy sector.
In addition, the group is expected to be nominated for the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award and the President of the Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning Award in the project management category.
Professor Kim Jeomsoo, the project director, said, “I am pleased that this project, the first graduate-level workforce training project in the secondary battery field in the Busan area, has been highly evaluated for the results achieved over the past two years,” and added, “I would like to thank the participating researchers from Dong-A University and the partner institutions for their hard work.”
Professor Kim continued, “We were able to confirm the practical effectiveness of the program as all students who benefited from the project over the past two years were recognized for their professional capabilities and employed in energy-related companies. We will successfully complete the remaining first phase and, in the second phase, move forward to establish a ‘Secondary Battery Industry-Academia Cooperation HUB’ to contribute to the development of the secondary battery industry, which is a current regional focus.”
