Dongjak-gu Secures 3.59 Billion Won in Special Adjustment Grants... Momentum for Pending Projects

Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Il-ha) has secured a total of 3.59 billion KRW in special adjustment grants for the first half of this year, giving momentum to the promotion of major pending projects.

With this budget secured, the district will actively promote a total of 11 projects, including ▲ 2.5 billion KRW for the construction of the Dongjak-gu new government building ▲ 500 million KRW for maintenance of aging road facilities ▲ 100 million KRW for building new media resources at the Dongjak-gu Childcare Comprehensive Support Center.

The special adjustment grant is a project fund provided by Seoul City to autonomous districts when special financial needs arise, according to the “Ordinance on Resource Adjustment of Seoul City Autonomous Districts.”

First, the district plans to invigorate the local economy by constructing the Dongjak-gu new government building within this year near Jangseungbaegi Station, the central but underdeveloped area of Dongjak-gu.

The new government building project will have a total floor area of 44,672㎡, with 3 basement floors and 10 above-ground floors, and will be developed as the nation’s first “Gwan-sang complex government building,” reborn as a tourism hub space.

The first-floor lobby will be opened to residents and designed as a hot place that successfully attracts visitors.

Additionally, the district will focus on maintenance and management of old road facilities, including pedestrian protection fences in child protection zones within the area, to enhance pedestrian safety for residents.

The project covers a total of 4 km across five sections: ▲ Noryangjin-ro 234 to Maebong-ro 72 ▲ Sadang-dong San 32-129 to Solbat-ro 98 ▲ Yeouidaebang-ro 10-gil 38 to Sadang-ro 9-gil 17.

Furthermore, an online reading system will be established within the Dongjak-gu Childcare Comprehensive Support Center to expand reading media in the area and promote the holistic growth of infants and young children.

As a future educational utilization plan for infants and young children, the district will prepare a reading service system and content that can be used without physical constraints by predicting demand for educational content such as locally stored videos and e-books.

In addition, the district will accelerate projects such as ▲ strengthening information provision for digitally vulnerable citizens including the Dongjak-gu newsletter ▲ supporting installation of heat reduction facilities such as shade shelters and cooling fog ▲ creating an attractive garden city ▲ promoting separate collection of waste vinyl ▲ expanding pharmaceutical services ▲ installing and replacing automated external defibrillators in senior centers.

Park Il-ha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, said, “Securing this special adjustment grant budget is a valuable achievement earned by the direct efforts of district office staff,” and added, “We will continue to make every effort to secure resources for the development and transformation of Dongjak-gu to enhance the happiness and convenience of our residents.”
