Ryukyung-gi Jungnang-gu Mayor Conducts Joint Inspection with Baek Seung-eon Jungnang Police Chief on the 17th to Prepare for Rainy Season
Thoroughly Checks Major Disaster Prevention Facilities and Key Risk Areas of Rivers
Discusses Cooperation and Response Plans Among Related Agencies for Flood and Wind Disaster Measures
Jungnang-gu (District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) conducted a joint inspection with Jungnang Police Station (Chief Baek Seung-eon) on the 17th to minimize flood and water damage ahead of the upcoming summer rainy season.
The inspection targeted major disaster prevention facilities and hazardous sections within rivers. District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi and Police Chief Baek Seung-eon visited the sites to carefully check for any facilities needing maintenance or potential risks.
The first stop was the ‘Myeonmok Rainwater Pump Station,’ the largest pump facility in Jungnang-gu, where they reviewed operational status and flood response plans. The Myeonmok Rainwater Pump Station operates 11 motor pumps to discharge rainwater into rivers during heavy rains, preventing flooding in residential areas.
At the site, District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi confirmed the normal operation and management status of the facilities and urged thorough facility management to prevent any property or human damage to residents caused by floods.
They also patrolled the confluence of Jungnangcheon and Myeonmokcheon, a major hazardous section within the rivers. Discussions were held regarding cooperation among related agencies and key response plans for flood disasters.
The confluence of the national river (Jungnangcheon) and the local river (Myeonmokcheon) is a high-risk flood damage area requiring meticulous management. To ensure thorough safety management, the district has formed and operates a joint ‘River Patrol Team’ composed of district officials, police, and civilians to identify risks in advance and to promptly control and evacuate in case of damage.
District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi stated, “To prevent damage caused by increasingly frequent localized and intense heavy rains, proactive measures and thorough management are paramount. We will make every effort to ensure that no cases of damage to residents occur due to floods by not only managing facilities meticulously but also establishing rapid communication and response systems with related agencies.”
