The 1st Jeju Polo Federation President's Cup International Polo Tournament, held on June 15-16 at the Korea Polo Club in Jeju Island, concluded successfully, the Korea Polo Federation announced on the 17th.
This tournament was organized by the Korea Polo Federation and hosted by the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Polo Federation and Jeju City Polo Federation, with sponsorship from Neowiz.
Seven matches were held over two days, divided into youth teams, adolescent teams, and adult teams. The event was made more meaningful by the participation of eight polo players and their families from the Philippine Polo Federation.
Pedro Rojas, president of the Philippine Polo Federation, and Andrew Romualdez, representative, said, "Last year and this year, the Korea Polo Federation successfully held Korea Day events at the prestigious Philippine polo club, Manila Polo Club (MPC). As a reciprocal visit, Filipino players participated in the Jeju Polo Federation international tournament, making it an honorable time to strengthen mutual friendship."
Kim Ae-sook, Deputy Governor for Political Affairs of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, attended and pledged cooperation to promote polo.
Polo is a game where eight players ride horses and use mallets (sticks) to hit a ball into the goal to score points. The game is played between two teams of four players each.
