Headquarters in Cheonan Must Sell Hodugwaja Locally
Use at Least Two Domestic Ingredients or Cheonan Walnuts
Cheonan City, Chungnam Province, will implement the 'Hodugwaja Quality Certification System'.
Cheonan City in Chungnam, the original home of Hodugwaja (walnut cookies), is implementing the ‘Hodugwaja Quality Certification System’ to differentiate itself from other local governments.
The Hodugwaja Quality Certification System selects and certifies Hodugwaja that are excellently manufactured in Cheonan according to certain standards, distinguishing them from indiscriminately sold Hodugwaja from other regions, such as those sold at highway rest stops, and supports their promotion.
The city plans to accept applications from companies headquartered in Cheonan that manufacture and sell Hodugwaja locally until the 15th of next month. After a first round of document screening, a second round of on-site evaluation, and review and resolution by the ‘Bread City Cheonan Promotion Committee,’ certification will be granted in August.
Through document screening, eligibility will be evaluated based on criteria such as the use of two or more domestic raw materials or the use of Cheonan walnuts, and the on-site evaluation will inspect hygiene management status.
The quality certification is valid for two years, and certified companies will receive a certificate along with benefits such as the right to display the certification mark on certified products and promotional support.
Mayor Park Sang-don stated, “We will do our best to enhance the reputation and value of Cheonan’s famous Hodugwaja by managing quality and securing consumer trust,” and added, “We expect the Hodugwaja Quality Certification System to contribute to promoting bread consumption in Cheonan and expanding the Bread City Cheonan brand.”
